FOR cutting classes and drinking liquor, five students of Canbanua National High School (CNHS) will be suspended starting next week.
After finding no evidence of the existence of a sex video, the Department of Education (DepEd) cleared the students of allegations of having been caught filming themselves while having sex in the old tourism building in Barangay Poblacion, Argao.

DepEd Cebu Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Serena Uy, however, said they were going to suspend the students for cutting classes and drinking liquor during class hours, not for the alleged sex video scandal.

A three-hour inquiry last Wednesday, led by DedEd Cebu Administrative Officer Virgilio Suan, found no evidence of a sex video of the students.

The students were, however, found guilty of cutting classes and drinking liquor during class hours.

Misconduct Three students, one female and two males, will be suspended on the grounds of "display of uncalled-for conduct" after being caught cutting classes, drinking liquor during class hours and kissing. The students would be suspended for two weeks.

Two male students will be suspended for one month on the grounds of "display of serious misconduct" after being found guilty of drinking liquor and cutting classing and then admitting to Suan of having sex with a female out-of-school youth.

"Their suspension would be imposed on Monday," Uy told Sun.Star Cebu.

The five students facing suspension are those that faced Suan last Wednesday for the three-hour inquiry.

While the students are still welcome in their school, they are now embarrassed to return to classes after allegations of a sex scandal were publicized. Some students have reportedly transferred to other schools.

Transferring in the middle of the first quarter of the school year, however, would be impossible, said Uy.

"They won't be accepted right now in schools, since they cannot transfer in the middle of the first quarter.

And besides, they have to come to us to get their transcripts in order to transfer," said Uy.
